Current Health Scenario in rural Gujarat – The health status of the rural population in Gujarat is a cause for concern, especially when health care is increasingly expensive and the expenses on health care are increasing beyond the reach of the rural poor.
A paradigm from the current ‘private, high tech and expensive medical model’ to a ‘socio-cultural, less expensive and rural friendly model’ should bridge the gap and improve the quality of rural health practice. This is the current need, which is being practiced at Dr. Nitin Shah SarvarogNidan Kendra.
Dr. Nitin Shah SarvarogNidan Kendra is a rural friendly medical service system where all types of diseases are diagnosed, treatment provided and referral services are given to patients who need higher medical attention. The major aim of this Kendra is to provide comprehensive medical health care services to the rural downtrodden masses free of cost or at very affordable rates.
Twice a week hundreds of people flock for treatment to this Kendra. To date, more than 3 lakhs patients have been diagnosed and provided appropriate treatment by senior M.D doctors/physicians. The diagnosis is done with the aid of advanced equipment like ECG with all required medicines totally free of cost.
Dr. Nitin Shah visits the SarvarogNidan Kendra twice a week and himself diagnosis the patients by advising them in a holistic approach. He believes more in prevention better than to cure diseases and developed many materials on preventive measures to avoid communicable and non-communicable diseases. He also distributed the same in nearby hundred villages. During the epidemic, he distributed many materials on swine flu in the past and on Corona Virus in the present situation. He influenced the department of health and family welfare on the availability of swine flu and Corona Virus test Labs and immediate treatment.
